What fictional high school—from tv, film, or a book—would you most like to attend? Or would you rather never go near high school again, fictional or otherwise?

There's so much I want to say, but it's hard to figure out how to say it.

You know?

Did I miss something?

"Presents on the tree'??

I've always wondered...did people actually used to put the presents on the tree? It seems like the tree would fall down. Well, I guess when my uncle used to visit, he'd leave our cards (which were presents) on the tree tucked in the branches, so I guess it's not entirely out of the question.

When I see 9 degrees celsius (The temp in London today according to guardian.co.uk) I have no idea how cold/hot that is. Obvi it's above freezing, but, like, how much, relative to this cray cray American elitist system?

Ok, so I know to convert  from celsius to fahrenheit you have to like multiply by 1.8 and add your mom, but that's so complicated.

What I want is a chart or something, so that when my new awesome British friends are like "Aw 'ell! It's gonna be like 9 bloody degrees today!" I can be like "Oh ok, that's approximately 48 degrees in America. This time difference is so confusing because now it affects the weather. I should bring a sweater."

Also WHOA HELLO did you know you can just type "9 celsuis to fahrenheit" into google and it tells you the conversion?? Well I need that for my brain. Or I need a chart.

So, get on that, dear friend.

In an effort to buff up on my UK current events, as per the suggestion of the Study Abroad Dean at tonight's pre-departure meeting, I was cruising on the internets for british newspaper websites.

On The Guardian's website, I stumbled across this: Actor slits his own throat after prop knife switch. Doesn't that sound like the plot of a bad murder mystery?? Cray cray.

Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, and Vlad the Impaler, the original Dracula, have the same birthday. Coincidence?

I THINK NOT!!!!!!

Bram was all like, hmmm...ima be a author. Who should I write about? Lemme wikipedia who has the same bday as me, and then I will write a story about that and become famous and go down in literary history for my awesomeness and how coincidental that my inspiration and I have the SAME BDAY. Holla.

It's hard to ignore the fact that today is Election Day in the U.S. If you went to the polls today, tell us what it was like. Long line? Free stickers? Hanging chads? We want the details.

My whole family sat down last night with our sample ballots and the voting guide from the newspaper and had a Discussion about the Issues and the Candidates. Then we all went together to vote at the Langford Park Community Center. There was no lines. It was staffed by a troop of Boy Scouts. It was adorable.

Look how wholesome and American we are!

I love democracy:

I'm feeling oddly excited today. Like it's a holiday or something.

Yay!

In a post-overthrow-of-the-US-government very near future/alternate reality world, a boy fights to save his brother and himself from the evils of their society and finally learns the truth about what happened to his family and his country.

Or something like that. That's more or less the gist...

I've been thinking about it for a long time, but that's the first time I thought about summarizing it.

Yay NaNo!

I am old.

Yesterday was my 21st birthday!!!!!! I was drunk the whole day, and I'm still hungover.

Just kidding. Obviously.

We tried to go to dinner at Havana Outpost in BK, but the whole block was closed because FIVE PEOPLE GOT SHOT earlier in the afternoon. So that put a weird damper on the evening, and we ended up back at Toast and things got better after that.

In other news, COLDPLAY WAS AMAZING!!! I love Chris Martin and his nerdy dances of nerdiness.

In other other news, I GOT STUCK ON THE SUBWAY AT 1:30 AM!!! We had to do an emergency evac that involved getting as close as possible to another train as possible without colliding, and squeezing out half of one door on to the very end of the platform. But it was not as exciting as any of the ones depicted in the mta.info videos.

La la la lalalalalala Yay

My mom is visiting today! Yay!

My birthday is Monday! YAY!

Good times.

How the story goes

Blowing like a hurricane,
Blowing down the road that you left behind.
Think of me and you know it, I'm not for anyone.
Love is all around, and it's for everyone.
I don't care about you, I know it.
If this is love, then why not show it?
This is how the story goes.
