Obvi it's above freezing, but, like, how much, relative to this cray cray American elitist system?

Ok, so I know to convert from celsius to fahrenheit you have to like multiply by 1.8 and add your mom, but that's so complicated.

What I want is a chart or something, so that when my new awesome British friends are like "Aw 'ell! It's gonna be like 9 bloody degrees today!" I can be like "Oh ok, that's approximately 48 degrees in America. This time difference is so confusing because now it affects the weather. I should bring a sweater."

Also WHOA HELLO did you know you can just type "9 celsuis to fahrenheit" into google and it tells you the conversion?? I don't really like beards. Or facial hair. Of any kind.

Here are a few execeptions:

I kid, I kid.

But seriously...this I don't mind so much:

and we can't forget this:

In a post-overthrow-of-the-US-government very near future/alternate reality world, a boy fights to save his brother and himself from the evils of their society and finally learns the truth about what happened to his family and his country.

Or something like that. That's more or less the gist...

I've been thinking about it for a long time, but that's the first time I thought about summarizing it.

Yay NaNo!

Obviously.

We tried to go to dinner at Havana Outpost in BK, but the whole block was closed because FIVE PEOPLE GOT SHOT earlier in the afternoon. So that put a weird damper on the evening, and we ended up back at Toast and things got better after that.

In other news, COLDPLAY WAS AMAZING!!! I love Chris Martin and his nerdy dances of nerdiness.

In other other news, I GOT STUCK ON THE SUBWAY AT 1:30 AM!!! We had to do an emergency evac that involved getting as close as possible to another train as possible without colliding, and squeezing out half of one door on to the very end of the platform. But it was not as exciting as any of the ones depicted in the mta.info videos.

Yesterday, I was on my way to the admissions panel and good news, I did NOT fall down the stairs. Check. Also, I went to the right room and was on time and all that jazz. Basically, I rocked. The panel was surprisingly good, because we all kind of knew each other. I told charming anecdotes about choosing Barnard. And during the inevitable "relationship between Columbia and Barnard" question, I made a hilarious reference to West Side Story Sharks v. Jets (snapping included).

The most awkward thing in the world happened last night. Well, I suppose I could imagine more awkward things, but still. It was pretty darn awk-town (to bring that back from summer). I saw Thomas from Trees Like Nails at this CUPAL speakeasy thing for performing arts people, and he kept awkwardly walking by our table, and I was like, ok, I'll say hi to him. We worked on a play together all summer, so I should say hi.

ME: Hey, Thomas.
THOMAS: Hey! Um... (looks confused).
ME: Leonore.
THOMAS: Um...
ME: From NOMADS? Trees Like Nails?
THOMAS: Um, right. Did you work on it this summer?
ME: Yes. You may have seen me. I was the one cleaning up your prop puke? We definitely saw each other several times a week during the month of August?
THOMAS: Um, wow. Sorry! Thanks for saying hi.
ME: (dies).

I wasn't even expecting him to know my name (though all of the other guys from the show did...) because he always seemed kind of out of it, but I was sure he would at least know where he knew me from. Whatevers.

In other news, people were yelling at me in the subway on Thursday to make sure I was registered to vote because it was almost the deadline for NY. But I was like "Yes. I'm registered. In FL. where it counts, so please stop shouting."

By which I mean, I listened to my ipod and ignored them.
